I’m happy to provide quotes for project types not listed. For projects outside my area of expertise, I have collaborative relationships with a broad network of creative and technology professionals and can provide referrals.
What’s Included in My Project Fee
- Meetings
The initial consultation and project quote are free. Time for subsequent telephone meetings is included in the fee. If meetings require more time than was budgeted, I will inform you, and any additional telephone meetings will be billed at my current hourly rate. In-person meetings are billed at my current hourly rate.
- Long distance charges
This includes charges for telephone consultations with you and any interviews or research required for your project.
- Revisions
Two revisions are free if requested within seven calendar days of receipt of copy. A revision does not include changes in the project scope or direction. Such changes in scope or direction are considered a separate project and require a new agreement and fee. Additional revisions beyond the two will be billed at my current hourly rate. Although there’s a first time for everything, I’ve never had to bill anyone for additional revisions.
- Galley proofing
If my schedule permits, I’ll proof your galley at no extra charge.
- Everything else
The fee includes conceptualization, client questionnaire, research, telephone interviews and writing.
What’s Not Included in My Project Fee
- Expenses
The fee does not include out-of-pocket expenses. Such charges will first be approved by you and then billed separately.
- Layout/design/formatting
The fee does not include layout, design or formatting. I can refer you to one of the talented graphic designers I’ve worked with in the past. Please ask.
- Project management
The fee does not include project management tasks such as collecting quotes from printers, photographers, graphic or web designers or stock photography services on your behalf. If my schedule permits, I occasionally provide project management services for an additional charge. If you need this service, please ask.
Ownership of Rights
Once you’ve made full payment for the work, you own the rights to it, with the exception of portfolio rights, and can use the work any way you choose, both online and off. I reserve portfolio rights to all work I create. This means I can include your project in my portfolio in both print and electronic formats. Electronic format includes email marketing and my online portfolio on my Web site. Portfolio rights are negotiable if you have confidentiality concerns.
Rush Jobs
If I’m able to accommodate your timeline, projects with a turn-around time of five to ten days will incur an additional 25% charge. For a turn-around time of four days or less, add 35% to the project fee.
About Fees and Terms
If you have any questions about my fees or payment terms, I’ll be happy to answer them. I understand the importance of a project budget and want to provide you the very best your budget will allow.
The fees stated here are minimums and are correct as of March 2009. My fees and terms are subject to change without notice to this Web page. Your exact project fee and payment terms will be specifically stated in our letter of agreement.
Writing for your success,
